On 20-21 February, the BEST Foundation held its second spring regional tournament of 2016 in Silistra. Over 130 students gathered at Atanas Burov Secondary Vocational High School of Administration, Economics, and Service for two days of competition. Thirteen teams from cities all over northeastern Bulgaria participated, including Ruse, Dobrich, Lovech, Shumen, Gabrovo, Pleven, and Varna; as well as out-of-region teams from Sofia and Montana. Students competed in World Schools Debate and speech events such as prose and poetry interpretation, duo interpretation, and original oratory.

This was a favorite tournament for many participants – it had the most oratory entries (55!) of any regional tournament, and the gracious hospitality of the host school administration and staff made the weekend such a smooth and pleasant experience. Team BEST wishes to thank them, and every coach, judge, chaperone, and volunteer who made this tournament possible.

Our next tournament will be the Northwest spring regionals on 5-6 March in Pernik. View the full spring tournament schedule here.
