National Tournament in Sofia, April 22-24, 2016

Welcome to the tournament portal for the National tournament! The tournament will be held at Thomas Jefferson Second English Language School, in conjunction with 126th Petko Todorov Primary School and Sofia University, on April 22-24. We welcome all teams and students who have participated in at least one regional tournament this academic year to participate in the National Tournament. Please visit our policies page for more information on eligibility. Registration for the tournament has ended. Coaches, you should have received an invitation to register for this tournament on Speechwire. If you haven’t received the invitation, please email us at info@bestfoundation.bg.

Judging

We welcome all high school graduates with C1 or higher English to judge at our tournaments! We will reimburse all judges for their transport if they use trains or buses, but we strongly encourage taking the most affordable option when possible (usually trains). Please purchase one-way tickets and leave them with us and we will reimburse you for the round-trip cost. We will provide food at the tournament site, and we will also cover two nights of hotel accommodation where required for the national tournament.

The first tournament hotel is Hotel Hemus.
The address of Hotel Hemus is 31 Cherni Vrah blvd., 1421 Sofia.
The price of Hotel Hemus is 27 leva per person per night.


The second tournament hotel is Hotel Slavyanska Beseda.
The address of Hotel Slavyanska Beseda is 3 Slavyanska st., 1000 Sofia.
The price of Hotel Slavyanska Beseda is 22 leva per person per night.

The third tournament hotel is Hotel Lion.
The address of Hotel Lion is 60 Maria Luiza blvd., 1202 Sofia.
The price of Hotel Lion is 25 leva per person per night.

Transportation

Please make sure to leave with a lot of time to spare, since yours is not the only team which will be using a certain route, and the Sofia transport system cannot fit a lot of teams into a single bus.

Here are directions on how to get from all tournament hotels to the tournament site – Thomas Jefferson Second English Language School:

Hotel Hemus – SELS
Take bus 102 from Hotel Hemus bus stop to Ivan Vazov bus stop (a total of 4 stops), then walk 228m to the school.
This route takes approximately 30 minutes.

Hotel Slavyanska Beseda – SELS
Walk 475m to General Gurko bus stop, take trolleybus 8 to Ivan Vazov bus stop (a total of 10 stops), then walk 243m to the school.
This route takes approximately 50 minutes.

Hotel Lion – SELS (first option)
Walk 669m to Hristo Botev bul. bus stop, take bus 74 to Ivan Vazov bus stop (a total of 9 stops), then walk 343m to the school.
This route takes approximately 1 hour.

Hotel Lion – SELS (second option)
Walk 180m to Lavov most metro station, take the metro to European Union metro station (a total of 4 stations), then take bus 102 from Hotel Hemus bus stop (right next to the metro station) to Ivan Vazov bus stop (a total of 4 stops), then walk 228m to the school.
This route takes approximately 50 minutes.
