BEST Foundation Hosts Third Tournament of the 2021-2022 Season

On February 11, 12 and 13, 2022, The BEST Foundation will hold its 45th tournament. Students will compete in five events: World Schools Style debate, poetry and prose interpretation, duo interpretation, and original oratory.

Amidst a global pandemic, the NGO holds all its large public events online, using video-conferencing software. Still, it attracts hundreds of Bulgarian students, teachers, and other members of the BEST Foundation community from around the world.

This season BEST is putting in even more effort to properly prepare our students. The Foundation is organising various workshops and events that aim to better their skills such as a series of debate seminars that will be running from January 26th to February the 2nd. Moreover this year for our debate finals we will be hosting several judges from renowned Bulgarian law firms. 

This year's regional tournaments continue to be sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Sofia.

BEST is proud to have maintained a strong group of judges who are an essential part of the success of our tournaments and whom without their help our students won’t have a way of improving their critical thinking skills and speech delivery. Among our judges for past tournaments were Ms. Angela Rodel, Executive Director at the Fulbright Commission; Dimiter Kenarov, Bulgarian Journalist, and many other professionals and university students. 

Miko Dimov, a BEST tournament Judge from Blagoevgrad said: “It has been 10 years since I judged or debated and it was such a pleasure to participate and feel the debating buzz again - congrats to all competitors and keep at it”.

BEST already held two other regional competitions last semester for students from western and eastern schools and three more competitions are going to follow in this Spring Semester.
