This is the Tournament Portal for our National Tournament which will be held online on April 23-25

Students with top performances at our regional tournaments will meet one last time to compete in five categories: Duo Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, Prose Interpretation, Original Oratory, and Debate.

We welcome all high school graduates or above with C1 or higher English to judge at our tournaments. If you are new to BEST and our tournaments, visit our Judging Basics page!

Coaches, you must register if you are judging, too, and don’t forget to include your judges when you fill out your team roster spreadsheet (see below).

Debate Motions

Novice

THBT secondary education (ages 10-18) in areas of high poverty rates should focus on preparing students for local workforce needs rather than focusing on well-rounded basic education (i.e. mathematics, literature, physical and biological sciences, art, history).
THW create and teach a unified history curriculum in the European Union.
THR the narrative of the American Dream.


Varsity

THW ban essential service workers from striking.
THBT the feminist movement should actively recruit conservative women.
THW disallow religious leaders from publicly endorsing, rejecting, or commenting on any political party or candidate.

There will be no hints for the impromptu motions for this tournament
